Connecticut Elementary School Shooting With More Than 27 Killed, Mostly Kids

More than 20 people, mostly elementary students, were killed in a shooting at a school in Connecticut Friday, according to ABC News.

The shooting occurred around 9:40 a.m. ET at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown in western Connecticut. There is at least one shooter dead, police said, but a second gunman is apparently at large, sources told ABC News.

A teacher was shot in the foot and taken to a hospital, investigators said. It was unclear what the other injuries were.

Schools in the area were placed on lock-down and frightened students were seen being escorted through a parking lot.
