Preferential Time Treatment For Abinos In JAMB/UTME

Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said that Albinos taking their matriculation examination in future, will be given additional 2 hours because of their peculiar poor eye sight.

The Jamb Boss, added that "we are trailing the blaze by incorporating the eye problem of the group into our examination planning, the Board was determined to provide them with magnifying lenses to help them bolden the type faces of words for examinations".

Dr Asota, a London based Optometrist and a Franchisee of Boots Opticians commended the move, but cautioned that "there is no one-side fit all solution to the sight problems of Albinos and advised the issue should be seen on case by case basis.

Dr Asota clarified further that Albinos are generally colour blind and the condition does not help students, especially those that need to use science laboratory as part of their school work."
